Job Description

LINUX ENGINEER

Work with one of the world's top tech companies in a fast-paced operations role. You will be on a team of Linux Engineers responsible for upgrading and maintaining global infrastructure that supports mission critical applications.

LINUX ENGINEER REQUIREMENTS:

  • General Linux (Red Hat) Administration skills in an enterprise environment:
    • OS installation using hands-off methods
    • Networking
    • NFS
    • Storage management using LVM, knowledge of various RAID levels
  • Scripting abilities with Python or Shell
  • Hands-on experience in server virtualization (KVM Preferred)
  • Experience with a configuration management tool (Puppet, Ansible, Salt, Chef, cfengine, etc)
  • Understanding of security/privilege configuration

LINUX ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support a global network of hosts supporting a large application for a major tech company
  • Work on a hardware refresh project that involves installing and configuring Linux on upgraded hardware
  • Storage configuration
  • Set up privilege escalation syntax via sudo based on respective security implications
  • Server virtualization
  • Performance monitoring/troubleshooting
  • Resolving tickets/handling change management requests
