Job Description


One of our top clients in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a SubAward Specialist to join their team. The ideal candidate will come from a University or Research background with 1-3 years of contract review, negotiation and execution experience.


  • Business background in experience and/or degree
  • Have worked with grants and contracts (contract review, negotiation and execution)
  • Experience with a focus in working with subcontractors and sub agreements
  • Standard MS Office - outlook for email
  • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat
  • Familiarity with using web based database systems


  • Work with OSR staff, Principal Investigators/Department administrators and the Office of University Counsel, to negotiate or assist in the negotiation of agreements with other higher-education institutions, non-profit organizations and on occasion, industry sponsors
  • Draft technical contract language covering such issues as intellectual property rights, cost-sharing, fiscal and procedural constraints and other similar matters
  • Conduct subaward risk assessments and work with departments and faculty to prepare and issue all client subaward agreements
