Job Description

TOOL ENGINEER SUMMARY:
One of our top clients who is a leader in the Automotive Industry for Metal Stampings and Assemblies, is seeking a Tool Engineer for their facility in Gadsden, Alabama. This position will report directly to the Corporate Engineering Manager. Comprehensive benefit package includes BCBS of AL for medical and dental; VSP vision; $20,000 life insurance policy; Optional supplemental life, short term disability; 401k after 1 year of employment with a 100% of first 2%. This position is also permanent.

TOOL ENGINEER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of five years work experience in related field in stamping and assembly area.
  • Work experience must contain communication skills and time management.
  • This must be supplemented with the ability to read GD&T, statistical process control, process measurement, computer skills for office administration, blue print reading and personal skill for customer relations.
TOOL ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review and approve die/equipment designs.
  • Review the print, specifications and other documentation for product requirements.
  • Receive and check P.C.R. files as distributed for completeness and correctness
  • Reviews build status and compliance to NARMCO Standards with tooling vendors
    on a weekly basis.
  • Obtain die/equipment approvals from NARMCO Manufacturing Plants and Customers as required.

  • Work jointly with Process Engineer and/or Program Management to meet timelines
    of the assigned project.
  • Attend APQP meetings as required.

  • Responsible for all NARMCO supplied material is coordinated with tooling
    vendors for trial builds, tryout, etc.
  • Responsible for meeting timelines assigned to each project and all NARMCO

  • PPQR milestones and objectives.

  • Ensure that all parts meet or exceed customer requirements.

  • Ensure that all engineering changes are completed to the Customer schedule and

    satisfaction.

  • Review tool purchase order(s) and engineering files for correct data to ensure

    proper tool build.

  • Ensure Final Material size meets program objectives and are submitted to

  • NARMCO purchasing for production release.

  • Rate tooling vendors on delivery and quality and submit to Engineering Manager.

  • Update job status utilizing the tool-chart.

  • Request manufacturing issues from manufacturing Plant Tool Engineer and the

    quality issues from manufacturing Plant Q.C. Manager prior to starting engineering

    changes, for process improvement.

  • Request and monitor all bank builds from the plant Production Control, noting the

    bank time and quantity requirements for engineering changes.

  • Request layouts at corporate or plant facilities providing all engineering change

    documents, prints, specifications, parts and fixtures.

  • Support any request by Plant Tooling Engineer on tooling issues, as assigned.

  • Support early containment at plant and Customer launch.

  • Support Customer PPAP submission and approval activities.

  • Support internal changes as required, a continuous improvement form shall be

    completed.

  • Perform all other duties as required by their immediate supervisor.

  • Provide engineering / quality / program support to the customer and NARMCO's manufacturing plants in the area of changes and/or new die(s) and equipment.
  • Responsible for all samples, special means and engineering changes for all contracts.
