Job Description

WELD ENGINEER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Review and approve all new weld equipment / cells and designs. (incl. the prints, specifications and other documentation for product requirements)
  • Develop and validate all welding processes to the product specification and to the equipment specification.
  • Ensure all weld parameters and weld equipment meet and exceed Customer quality expectations.
  • Ensure the proper weld destruct methods and analyses are conducted in accordance with requirements.
  • Work jointly with Process Engineer and/or Program Management to meet timelines of assigned project.
  • Ensure that all engineering changes are completed to the Customer schedule and satisfaction.
  • Review weld equipment / cell purchase orders and engineering files for correct data to ensure proper tool and equipment build.
  • Request weld destructs at plant facilities providing all documents, prints, specifications, parts and fixtures.
  • Support Plant Maintenance or Manufacturing on weld issues, as assigned.
  • Support early containment at plant and Customer launch./ support Customer PPAP submission and approval activities.
  • Support internal changes and continuous improvements as required.
  • Provide training on weld engineering, quality of welds and weld parameters to other employees as needed to improve the overall knowledge and abilities of staff
  • University or College graduate with Engineering degree/diploma with emphasis in electrical, mechanical or welding.
  • Minimum of five years work experience in related field of metal joining and welded assembly. Automotive experience preferred
  • Work experience must contain communication skills and time management.
  • This must be supplemented with the ability to read GD&T, statistical process control, process measurement, computer skills for office administration, blue print reading and personal skill for customer relations.
  • Candidate must have leadership ability and the ability to work well in a team environment.
